In October 4 - 8, the International scientific seminars "Fundamental and applied problems of soft matter physics" will be held in BMSTU with the support of Russian Science Foundation, grant 14-43-00053.
The head of the TeraTech Laboratory Stanislav Yurchenko participated in the International Conference PhysicA.SPb/2015
In October 26 – 29, the International Conference PhysicA.SPb/2015 was held in Saint-Petersburg Ioffe Physical-Technical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The head of the TeraTech Laboratory Stanislav Yurchenko was invited to participate in this event. He gave the invited talk about “Pair correlations in classical crystals: the Shortest Graph method”.
Experimental Study in the frames of International Research Project supported by the Russian Scientific Foundation
In October, 12 – 24, 2015 the joint experimental research was done in BMSTU by TeraTech scientists, members of Research-Educational Center “Complex Plasma Technologies”, and Lenaic Couedel (University of Marseille, France). Experiments were performed according to the program of the International Research Project.
Scientific seminar was made in Research Center “Photonics and Infrared Technologies”
On 23 October a scientific seminar was made in Research Center “Photonics and Infrared Technologies” with participation of Victor I. Ryzhii and Georgy E. Fedorov. V.I. Ryzhii gave talk about “Terahertz lasers and detectors based on Vander-Waals graphene heterostructures: concepts and challenges” and G.E. Fedorov told about “Asymmetric devices based on carbon nanotubes for THz detectors”.
IX International Conference of Young Scientists and Specialists “Optics-2015”
In 12 – 15 October three members of our laboratory, Kirill Zaytsev, Nikita Chernomyrdin, and Anna Metelkina, participated in IX International Conference of Young Scientists and Specialists “Optics-2015” Sankt-Petersburg, Russia
Their scientific reports were dedicated to our novel results in the field of applications of terahertz pulsed spectroscopy and imaging for medical diagnostics, NDE of composite materials, and security problems.
X Youth Scientific Conference “Polytechnika 2015”
In 7 – 10 October, 2015 in BMSTU there was X Youth Scientific Conference “Polytechnika 2015”.
Master and PhD student from BMSTU participated with their research projects.
Student from our laboratory demonstrated recent results of our scientific work:
Gleb Katyba had report “A novel type of terahertz waveguide made of shaped Sapphire crystals” within the “Technical Physics” Section. He won the 2nd place in the corresponding nomination.
Nikita Charnomyrdin participated with report “Terahertz pulse spectroscopy of pigmentary skin nevi in vivo”. He won the 3rd place in nomination “Biomedical Technologies”.
The scientific seminar at Institute of Microwave Semiconductor Electronics of Russian Academy of Sciences
On 8 October, 2015 Stanislav Yurchenko and Kirill Zaytsev participated in the scientific seminar at Institute of Microwave Semiconductor Electronics of Russian Academy of Sciences and demonstrated our scientific results in the report “Biomedical Applications of THz Pulsed Spectroscopy”
3rd International Symposium “Optics and its Applications”
In 1 – 5 October, 2015 Irina Dolganova and Gleb Katyba participated in the 3rd International Symposium “Optics and its Applications”, Yerevan, Armenia.
It was the second Symposium in Armenia with participation of TERATECH researchers. Moreover, our Laboratory on behalf of the BMSTU became one of the coorganizers and furthermore, S. Yurchenko and I. Dolganova were included in the Editorial Committee of the Symposium Proceedings.
In the frames of Symposium Sessions, Irina Dolganova did the report “Light Scattering in Growing Ordered Structures. Computation of Scattering Phase-Function” and Gleb Katyba had talk “Terahertz Photonic Crystalline Waveguide Based on Shaped Sapphire Crystal”, which was honored with the 2nd Place in the Students Session Contest.
The Conference “Optics of Natural Water” (ONW’2015)
In September 8 – 12, 2015 Irina Dolganova participated in the conference “Optics of Natural Water” (ONW’2015), Sankt-Petersburg, Russia with report “Special features of radiation transfer in structured media” within the Session “Fundamental problems of Radiation Transfer Theory”.
The International Conference on Advanced Laser Technologies ALT’15
In September 7 – 11, 2015 in Faro, Portugal there was The International Conference on Advanced Laser Technologies ALT’15
In the frames of this conference Stanislav Yurchenko had plenary talk “Novel concepts of THz sources based on the structural light focusing effect in photonic crystals”. Also Kirill Zaytsev participated with report “Novel applications of THz pulsed spectroscopy: from early non-invasive diagnosis of dysplastic skin nevi to non-destructive evaluation of composite structures”.
International Seminars “Complex (Dusty) Plasma: Interdisciplinary Research”
In August 12 – 18, 2015 the International Seminars “Complex (Dusty) Plasma: Interdisciplinary Research” supported by the Russian Scientific Foundation (Project # 14-43-00053) were held in our Laboratory. In the Seminars took part researchers from our Laboratory as well as our international partners Gregor Morfill, Alexey Ivlev, Hartmut Löwen and others. The Seminars became the basic platform for discussion in the field of complex plasma physics and results of our joint cooperation.
Symposium on Fundamental & Applied Problems of Terahertz Devices & Technologies
The 4th Russia–Japan–USA Symposium on Fundamental & Applied Problems of Terahertz Devices & Technologies “RJUS TeraTech-2015” was held on 8-12 June in Chernogolovka, Russia.
TeraTech Laboratory made the following presentations:
- Novel applications of terahertz pulsed spectroscopy (K. Zaytsev, S. Yurchenko)
- Terahertz radiation scattering in materials with different concentration of particles (I. Dolganova, V. Karasik, A. Neganova, S. Yurchenko)
- Terahertz spectroscopy of dysplastic and non-dysplastic skin nevi (K. Zaytsev, N. Chernomyrdin, V. Karasik, K. Kudrin, I. Reshetov, S. Yurchenko)

Congratulation of the Research-Educational Center “Photonics and IR-technologies” with its 3rd Anniversary
The Research-Educational Center “Photonics and IR-technologies” was officially opened on April 25, 2012, and the former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev participated in the opening ceremony along with the first persons of Russia.
Last week our Rector Anatoly Aleksandrov and the Vice-rectors of BMSTU congratulated our Center with its 3rd Anniversary.
The “Scopus Award Russia” was given to the head of Teratech Laboratory Stanislav Yurchenko
On 16th of April in the Hypercube (the Skolkovo Innovation Center) the best Russian researchers and scientists were awarded for the contribution to the development of science in Russia. This year the “Scopus Award Russia” in the nomination of “Young scientist” was given to the head of Teratech Laboratory Stanislav Yurchenko. Traditionally, the governance of Elsevier, the world-biggest scientific publishing house, the Russian foundation for basic research, the Russian Ministry of education and science, the Federal Agency of scientific organizations, rectors and vice-rectors of the biggest Russian universities, and the heads of Russian and international innovation business also participated in the Award Ceremony.
We all congratulate Stanislav and wish him further success!
Experiments according to the international research project
23 – 27 March in BMSTU, researchers of Teratech Lab and REC “Ion-Plasma Technologies” together with Lenaic Couedel (University of Marseille, France) carried out experiments according to the international research project. Also on 26 March L. Couedel gave a presentation at the scientific seminar in the Joint Institute for High Temperature of Russian Academy of Sciences. The seminar was devoted to the scientific theme of the international project, supported by the Russian Scientific Foundation.
The 8th Russian Conference “Irreversible processes in nature and technology”
The 8th Russian Conference “Irreversible processes in nature and technology” was held on 27-29 January 2015 in BMSTU, supported by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, Russian Academy of Sciences, BMSTU, Lebedev Physical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and the BMSTU Center for Applied Physics. The conference is held every 2 years and gathers the leading Russian researchers, young scientists, and students.
S. Yurchenko and K. Zaytsev done the presentation “Structure focusing of light in photonic crystals: theory, experiments, and applications” within the frames of plenary talks program. During 28-29 January students from “Teratech Laboratory” presented their results.
The international seminars including scientific school “Complex (dusty) plasma: interdisciplinary research”
The international seminars including scientific school “Complex (dusty) plasma: interdisciplinary research” were held on 14-19 December 2014 at BMSTU, supported by the Russian Scientific foundation.
Contacts: BMSTU (main building, room 433), 2nd Baumanskaya street, 5, Moscow.
The seminars had two sections, open lectures and student section.
Participants represented Russian Federation, Germany, France.
The conference goal is to develop scientific and educational relations, attract young scientists and talented students to the research activity.
A meeting with our colleagues from Max Planck Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics was held
The meeting involved our colleagues from Research and Educational Center “Ion-Plasma Technologies” and Max Planck Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics (Munich, Germany) was held within the framework of the international research project.
The students from the TeraTech Laboratory won the competition between the research projects, which was held within the framework of the IX Youth Scientific and Engineering Exhibition “Politechnika”
The IX Youth Scientific and Engineering Exhibition “Politechnika” was held in the Academic Laboratory Building of BMSTU at 8-11 October, 2014.
Among the participants there were undergraduate and PhD students from BMSTU.
More than 70 research projects were presented at the Exhibition by young scintists.
TeraTech Laboratory was represented by the following projects:
- “Effect of the structural focusing of the radiation in photonic crystals and its application for a third optical harmonic generation” (by Gleb Katyba, 5-year student of the Physics Department, supervisors: K.I. Zaytsev, S.O. Yurchenko)
- “Surface acoustic waves amplifier based on multilayer graphene” (by Kirill Komarov, 4-year student of the Physics Department, supervisor: S.O. Yurchenko)
- “Terahertz and Infrared spectroscopy of the optical properties of Nafion” ” (by Arseniy Gavdush, 5-year student of the Physics Department, supervisors: K.I. Zaytsev, S.O. Yurchenko)
- “Stratification formation in the binary colloidal systems” (by Aleksandr Shadko, 3-year student of the Optics and Laser Technology Department, supervisor: S.O. Yurchenko)
